At The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Colorado our professional kitchens are your classrooms. You'll receive extensive hands-on training instruction from accomplished chefs and have the opportunity to work in Assignments-our highly-acclaimed, student-operated public restaurant. Near the completion of your program, we provide assistance in career planning, job search skills, portfolio planning, interview techniques and résumé development. We offer five separate culinary education programs. Learn what it takes to become a true professional in the culinary field.
Our Associate of Applied Science program answers the culinary challenge presented by the increasingly sophisticated palettes of a savvy dining public. In seven quarters (21 months), you'll learn both foodservice management theory and hands-on technical expertise. Practice fundamental pastry and bread-baking techniques, all-purpose baking, desserts, cake decoration and pastry arts. You'll also benefit from instruction in critical thinking, and business essentials. Upon graduation, pursue a position focused on baking and pastry responsibility or add to your industry experience with a long-term goal of foodservice management.

Earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in seven quarters (21 months). Begin learning the same skills as our diploma students, plus basic cooking and nutrition, kitchen procedures, and food selection, purchasing and presentation. Move on through specialty areas, such as baking and pastry, garde manger, international and American regional cuisines, and diningroom operations. You'll take computer and communication courses as well as gain a sense of restaurant styles, food and wine pairing, management and marketing.

In thirteen quarters (39 months), you will earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree. You'll start with all of the basic and intermediate courses offered in our Diploma and Culinary Arts programs. Additionally, you'll study the business aspects of the Culinary industry such as human resource management, event, beverage and menu management, marketing and accounting,learn customer service and leadership, as well as food service for retirement communities and hospitals. You immerse yourself in multimedia, and own the latest and greatest electronic gear. Digital media producers are multisensory types, with the ability to combine traditional production techniques utilizing digital tools. They shoot, edit, refine sound and create special effects for digital video production and multimedia, using converging technologies. The result is material for CDs, DVDs, video, satellite linkups and broadband Internet. Digital Filmmaking and Video Production is all about applying digital production technologies to the ever-changing world of media delivery. It's creating, developing, editing and delivering content in a variety of formats-blending art with technology. It's using special effects to help tell a story. It's design skills in the appropriate format for webcasts and streaming audio-visual on demand. In this field, creativity and technology are not at the opposite ends of the spectrum.

Professionals in fashion retail management go behind the runway and beyond the red carpet to drive the industry. They set the trends and sell the goods. Visual Effects and Motion Graphics is design in motion. It's about creating special effects with computer-based animation and graphics. Then, it's up to the artist to creatively weave video clips, graphic elements and sound with live-action footage for the most impact. It's the chance to take an audience where no mere camera can go.
