Have You Thought of Cooking School?

The economy has taken a big down-turn in the past few years and there is no doubt that a lot of people have lost their jobs, but there is one industry that really hasn't taken that big of a hit - the culinary industry. After all, people always have to eat and there are certainly plenty of jobs available, enough that makes going to cooking school a very good idea right now.

The culinary arts, once taught only in the small kitchens of France are now taught in schools like the Art Institute of California - San Francisco, an art school renowned throughout the world. Some people might think it a bit strange that cooking would be taught in an art school, but it is in an art and one worthy of real study.

This cooking school is more than just spending a few hours in a kitchen, learning how to make sauces. A four-year-degree is offered in the culinary arts, with a specialty in baking and pastry or culinary management, meaning that the graduate will be ready to take charge in any kitchen upon graduation. A fully accredited school, and one that is certainly recognized for turning out some of the most creative artists of all time, the Art Institute is a name you would be proud to have you your resume.

There are other ways, of course, to get a job in the food industry, but some of them aren't so fun. Start as a waiter or dishwasher, spend a few years as a sous chef, and if the opportunity strikes, step into a chef position. But, this rarely happens nowadays since there are simply so many skilled chefs coming out of high quality culinary programs such as this. If you want to make a career in the food industry, then you really need to go to cooking school.
