A career in the culinary arts offers you the opportunity to be creative, successful, and respected in a highly competitive field. The objective of the culinary programs is for students to attain a fundamental grounding in culinary arts.

Students are introduced to culinary concepts and theories, skills in culinary arts, principals of sanitation and safety, American regional cuisine, garde manger, essentials for baking and pastry, and fundamental concepts and practices in hospitality management.

Digital Filmmaking & Video Production (BFA)

New tools for content creation are continually rising on the digital landscape. Today's content developer must be able to navigate this world with confidence. This bachelor's program will provide the student with the knowledge, critical thinking and organizational skills necessary for a creative, and productive journey. Advances in high definition video, storage area networks, and software toolsets have brought about new competencies, enhanced quality, and improved workflow within the digital filmmaking and video production field. With this in mind, the Digital Filmmaking & Video Production bachelor's program will offer the students a relevant curricula to meet the needs of industry, while creating an environment conducive to helping students grow intellectually and creatively to meet the demands of tomorrow's marketplace. Students will learn to formulate, construct, and deliver digital audio, video and motion graphics. Graduates of the Digital Filmmaking & Video Production program will apply the emerging digital production techniques to the changing world of mass communication while maintaining high standards of artistic expression.

The Digital Photography program offers students the opportunity to build their photographic skills through the cultivation, research, development, and execution of an extensive body of photographic work. Students will learn to identify and solve contemporary photographic problems as well as develop the ability to observe and critically analyze contemporary photographs. Additionally, after being taught to identify a target market, the student will develop and build a portfolio to address the needs of that market. Students are given the opportunity to develop not only the technical and design skills required to make competent photographs, but are also given the time to master conceptual, critical theory and design competencies to be competitive in today's photography market.

Virtually anywhere you go, you will find images, layouts, typographical treatments, and fine art that has a basis in graphic design. Every field of endeavor requires design. From visual communications such as corporate identity and logos, to consumer packaging, collateral materials and multimedia presentations, graphic design is employed most anywhere a message or product has to be seen. It is a form of communication that uses images and words to convey meaning, and evoke emotion.

BFA

As a student in the Graphic Design program, you will learn how to draw attention to your message and how to reach a desired target audience. You will discover which media contribute to the effectiveness of the message, combining your digital skills with traditional illustration. Our program approaches graphic design from classic, traditional, and hand-skill techniques and utilizes industry-related software packages. Our experienced faculty will enhance your inherent creativity and prepare you to market yourself for a successful career in graphic design. Creative problem solving and decision making are practiced at every level as students are given design situations to solve.

Our Interior Design program is a blend of art and science enabling you to merge form and function into your work. Successful designers not only know how to change an interior space to make it look better, they make it function better. Graduates of this program understand how the psychology behind altering the client's surroundings will in turn increase the well being and productivity of the people who live, work, or play there.

The program begins with a solid foundation in basic rendering and perspective, and then builds upon aesthetic and technical problem-solving skills. You will discover the differences between designing for architectural firms, retail stores, hotels, and restaurants. You will also learn how to maintain accurate records, write contracts, and work successfully with wholesalers in the industry to help manage costs. Upon graduation, you will have received hands-on training and instruction from our award-winning faculty and organized a portfolio to showcase your accomplishments to prospective employers.

Transform your ideas and sketches into another dimension of virtual reality. Then, model and bring to life all the unique characters in your mind into a 2-D or 3-D, computer-animated vision with attitude. As a Media Art & Animation student, the only limit is your imagination. You will learn about human anatomy, life drawing and perspective, along with 2-D and 3-D animation, in a variety of computer platforms and software, including special effects and broadcast graphics. Students progress through various aspects of graphic design, interface design, media production, information architecture, Web and portable device technologies, database design and access, scripting, and production of advanced interactive projects to create a positive interactive user experience while learning to work as a team. Students will develop online portfolios utilizing these techniques to highlight their talents to employers and clients.
