A general arts degree encourages learning through educational exploration. Typically a two-year program, a general arts degree provides students with a traditional, broad-based education. The difference between this and other degree programs, however, is that students are not required to declare a major. This allows students to complete general education requirements in the humanities, social and natural sciences, and mathematics while deciding on a career or field of study.
In addition to preparing students for higher education, pursuing a general arts degree helps develop skills important to their future success. This includes strong critical thinking, research and analysis, and written and interpersonal communication skills. Strengthening these essential skills ensures that students are capable of effectively accumulating, processing, and sharing information in both the academic and professional arenas.
