A Bachelor’s degree can make the differnce between a job and a career. It helps increase the respect you command and the salary you deserve.
The Bachelor’s or Baccalaureate degree is the most common of all academic degrees. In the United States, one in four adults has a Bachelor’s degree. These degrees, also known as undergraduate degrees, require students to study full time for four years and complete one hundred twenty credit hours at a college or university.
All undergraduate degree programs include general education in a variety of subjects including science, arts and humanities, and the social sciences. These classes are typically completed in the first two years of study and total sixty credit hours. The final two years are dedicated to a field of specialized study called a major. Most students have one major and many choose to pursue programs in related areas of study called minors. A minor can broaden a student’s horizons and expand his marketability in the workforce.
Once this course of study has been completed, students are awarded a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS) or a specialized degree such as the Bachelor of Architecture (BArch).
