The Education Gap

Whether we want to admit it or not, getting an education takes more than just desire. Several factors can influence how easy or difficult it may be for someone to actually attend school and attain the desired level of education. Below is an interesting infographic that illustrates a few of these factors. That’s not to say that your circumstances should ever prevent you from getting an education, but recognizing potential obstacles (such as the availability of schools in your area, your ability to pay for higher education, etc.) early on can help you more aptly prepare and overcome any issues that would otherwise prevent you from attaining such a worthy goal.

What kind of obstacles have you overcome to further your education? Share your thoughts and stories!

  8. A really bad infographic. It makes information harder to understand rather than easier. Those shiny bars are annoying too.

  9. And people wonder why I went to college even though I really couldn’t afford it.

  10. I think it’s actually light blue -> red -> black -> dark blue, which is, if anything, worse. Having the key not arranged in a line is another mistake… as is then basically reversing the scale for the next set of data. Then using the same colors to mean something totally different six more times. The last graph really, really should have been a bunch of lines, too – making it all those bars made it horrifically hard to read.

This infographic would have been better as a plain old table.

The color scheme was just confusing. The first map took more than half a minute to figure out, when it should have been darkest>lightest = educated>uneducated or whatever. This would only take five seconds to understand at most because it would make sense visually, unlike these infographics.

Barely readable. Dude has never heard of the [basic rules of heraldry](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heraldry#Tinctures) when it comes to colour.
