As the name implies, a human services degree prepares students to work with a variety of people served by community outreach programs. Graduates often work in substance abuse, gerontology, corrections, child welfare, domestic and criminal violence, and mental health.
A human services degree offers graduate and doctorate candidates a comprehensive overview of social work. This includes counseling, intervention, human services administration, social policy analysis and planning, and clinical applications. In addition, a number of students choose to concentrate on leadership and administration so that they are prepared to oversee teams of professionals and move into upper level positions.
