A medical and dental degree gives students the education they need to support physicians and dentists in variety of ways. This includes acting as an administrator, hygienist or medical assistant. Students take general medical classes, including anatomy and pharmacology. They also learn to take patient histories, measure vital signs, and assist in medical and dental treatments. In addition, they learn about insurance, laboratory procedures, patient records, office procedures, medical terminology, and medical or dental office management.
Students interested in earning a medical and dental degree can do so on either an associate or bachelor’s level. An associate degree prepares students for entry-level positions, while a bachelor’s degree is more in depth. It prepares students to take on more responsibility and earn a higher salary in return.
