Physical therapy is one of the fastest growing careers in the healthcare industry. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for physical therapists is high and will remain so into the next decade. Physical therapists work with doctors to rehabilitate individuals suffering from injury or disease. This involves developing and implementing therapeutic exercise plans.
Students interested in a physical therapy career are required to complete undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Many students study exercise, physical therapy or sports education in their undergraduate years, which gives them a solid foundation for their graduate work. In addition to comprehensive physical therapy training, students may also choose a specialization. These include sports medicine, orthopedics, gerontology, and pediatric therapy.
