A degree in radiology gives students a solid background in radiologic science. They learn how to take images of bones, internal organs, and tissues to better help physicians diagnose diseases and provide the best course of treatment. These images include x-rays, CT scans, magnetic imaging, and ultrasounds.
Students of radiology have a variety of educational and career options. They can earn certification, an associate or bachelor’s degree. Students at all levels must have a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, radiation and imaging, radiologic equipment, and film processing. This prepares them for careers in hospitals, diagnostic imaging centers, outpatient care units, laboratories, and doctors’ offices.
