Degree Modes
Whether pursuing a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or an associate degree in veterinary technology, all veterinary science students have one thing in common—a deep love and respect for animals. From that common point, students can choose to enter a certification program or pursue an associate degree. These programs are available through community colleges, junior colleges, or online. This path prepares students for a career in a veterinary office as a technician or assistant. They may also consider using their education to become animal groomers, trainers, or caregivers.
Individuals interested in becoming a veterinarian are required to attend a veterinarian college. These students, like medical and dental students, must earn an undergraduate degree in a related field such as biology, chemistry, physics, biochemistry, or zoology. Student must then enroll in an accredited four-year program at a college of veterinary medicine.
